EnRoute MagazineJune 22nd, 2007 The May issue of EnRoute Magazine (Air Canada) features a story of my Photo of the Week!June 6th, 2007 My goal with this section is to post a new image every week; something I’ve shot recently, something that gets me stoked. I’ll strive to make sure they aren’t shots from any of my online galleries – it’ll always been something new, even if I have to dig into the archives. Best case scenario it’ll be something I’ve shot that week. Click here to view my Photo Blog. No Opportunity WastedJune 4th, 2007
The story of how I came to be involved in this TV project is long and convoluted. It involves the teenage son of a casting director, on spring break and casting about the web when he came up with my name. There was the endless transcription and repetition of narration from clips on the web; practice video ambushes of my friends around Kimberley; last minute haircuts to address the great-Canadian-mullet I was sporting; and a long, long tense wait after the auditions. When time permits I will post a few of these stories, cause they are fun. For now, I will just say I feel very stoked, and very lucky to be involved with the project. The premise of No Opportunity Wasted is fantastically cool: we ambush folks who have applied to the show, but who have no idea they have been chosen to participate. Through careful detective work the producers have already cleared their schedules –work is covered, children and pets taken care of – so when we unexpectedly drop in with cameras rolling, there are no excuses. Nothing to keep them from joining me for a full on 72 hours of adventure. If they say ‘Yes’, we steal them away right then and there from their regular life and throw them straight into a series of challenges over the next 72 hours, specifically designed to help liberate them from whatever chronic fear has previously held them captive (a fear they revealed in their application). We will be filming the first season of No Opportunity Wasted this summer, and it will air on CBC beginning next October. Episodes will deal with sharks, heights, speed, driving, flying… you name it. Because we want everything to be a surprise in the fall, I can’t talk about any of the episodes or locations here on the blog… at least not yet. But I will be posting updates, and ‘Photos of the Week’ during breaks in filming.
